Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 February 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how C·tradis ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and safeguards personal information when you visit canadatradis.com (the "Site") or contact us. C·tradis is an independent educational publisher based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. We are not a financial firm, broker or adviser, and we deliberately keep the personal information we handle to a minimum. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.

1. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to personal information we collect through the Site, through the contact form, and through direct correspondence by email or telephone. It does not apply to third-party websites we link to, which operate under their own privacy policies. By using the Site, you consent to the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

3. How and why we use information

Under PIPEDA we identify the purposes for which information is collected. We use personal information to: respond to your enquiries and provide the information you request; operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site; understand how our content is read through aggregated analytics; deliver and measure advertising that funds our free content; detect and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents; and comply with legal obligations. We collect and use only what is reasonably necessary for these purposes.

4. Consent

We rely on your consent to process personal information. By submitting the contact form or continuing to use the Site with cookies enabled, you consent to the collection and use described here. You may withdraw consent at any time (subject to legal and contractual restrictions) by contacting us using the details below; withdrawing consent may limit our ability to respond to you.

5. Advertising and analytics partners

Our content is supported by modest display advertising. We work with third-party advertising and analytics providers, including Google, which may set cookies or use device identifiers to serve and measure interest-based ads and to compile aggregated statistics. These providers process data under their own privacy policies; for Google, see policies.google.com. You can manage interest-based advertising through the tools described in our Cookie Policy. We do not share your name, email or message with advertisers.

6. Disclosure of information

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We may disclose information to: service providers who host, deliver, secure or analyse the Site on our behalf and who are bound to protect it; authorities or third parties where required by law, court order or to protect our rights, users or the public; and a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition or reorganisation, subject to this policy.

7. International transfers

Some of our service and advertising providers operate outside Canada, including in the United States. Where information is processed abroad, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, and we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected by comparable safeguards.

8. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described, to meet legal, accounting or reporting requirements, or to resolve disputes. Contact-form correspondence is retained for a reasonable period to handle your request and any follow-up, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

9. Security

We apply reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricted access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccuracies, or ask us to delete information we no longer need. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below; we may need to verify your identity. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca, or your provincial privacy regulator.

11. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Third-party links

The Site may link to external websites and sources. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policies before providing any information.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be posted on this page, and your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
