About the project

A reading room, not a sales floor.

"We wanted one more finance page that didn't end in a get-started button — so we wrote it ourselves."

C·tradis started in 2017 in Halifax, when a handful of writers decided the internet needed calmer, clearer notes on money. We write for the curious — students, professionals and anyone teaching themselves — who want the context without the commission.

Each note is written, checked and dated. We flag opinion as opinion and uncertainty as uncertainty. We name no brokers, back no tokens and sell no products. That independence is the whole point.

Purpose

Understanding over urgency — education and clarity, never a sales funnel.

Audience

Curious, self-directed readers who want context, not calls to act.

Funding

Small display advertising and open content — no sponsored placements.

Scope

No brokers, apps or exchanges named — the mechanics, not the marketplace.

What we build on

Primary, public and peer-reviewed material only — never anything that pays to be mentioned.

  1. Official data & reports

Public datasets from Statistics Canada, the Bank of Canada and open-government portals anchor our factual reporting.

  2. Academic literature

Peer-reviewed finance and economics supplies the frameworks we use to structure each piece of educational content.

  3. Regulatory sources

Guidance and independent authority publications complement our editorial work — they do not replace professional advice.

  4. Historical context

Long-run monetary and market series that put today's numbers next to the decades that came before them.

FAQ

The things readers ask most

Who runs C·tradis?
An independent editorial team in Halifax, Nova Scotia, writing and revising these notes since 2017. No sales team, no partner programme, no hidden backers.
How do you pay for it?
With modest display advertising, nothing else. We accept no commissions, referral fees or affiliate payments, so we've no reason to steer you anywhere.
Is this financial advice?
No. It's general educational information only — not personal advice, and not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything.
What do you do with my data?
As little as possible. If you message us, we use your details only to write back. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy spell out the details.
Will I make money using this?
We can't and won't promise that. Investing carries real risk and the past doesn't repeat on cue. We explain the mechanics; the decisions and outcomes are yours.
Can I suggest a topic or a fix?
Absolutely — use the form below. Reader questions and corrections steer a lot of what we publish next.
